Effective Fall skincare tips for glowing skin that will help you look pretty all year round. The leaves are changing color, the air is getting crisp and the pumpkin spice lattes are flowing, but have you changed up your skincare routine?

Fall Skincare Tips

Fall is one of my favorite seasons here at skincare, and I am excited to share my top 12 fall skincare tips that will help you not only get glowing skin but also maintain it.

Coming from the summer and spring seasons most people tend to relax with their skincare. Some ignore critical steps such as applying sunscreen because the sun is no longer as bright and hot as it was in the previous months.

If you want to have healthy skin throughout the year, you need to remain vigilant even during the fall. Here are some of the tips I have implemented in my routine that have helped me achieve and maintain my desired skin.

1. Exfoliate Gently And Reduce The Frequency During Fall

As the weather changes, so do our skin. During the summer, we’re exposed to more sun and heat, which can leave our skin feeling dry and dull. A great way to combat this is to exfoliate regularly. This will help to remove dead skin cells and reveal brighter, more radiant skin.

Exfoliating is important to keep the skin healthy and radiant. However, it should be done gently and less frequently during the Fall.

The reason for this is that the skin can become more sensitive during fall, so exfoliating too often can cause skin irritation. It’s best to limit exfoliation to once a week or every other week.

Below are some of the benefits of exfoliating during fall:

– It removes dead skin cells which can cause blackheads, whiteheads, and acne breakouts.

– It helps with wrinkles by stimulating collagen production in the skin.

– It leaves your skin looking healthier and more radiant.

2. Switch To A Heavier Moisturizer During The Fall

One of the most important things you can do for your skin during the fall and winter months is to keep it hydrated. This means using a good quality moisturizer every day, even if you have oily skin.

If your skin feels dry and tight after cleansing, that’s a good indicator that it needs more moisture.

The first thing you’ll want to do is switch from your lighter moisturizer to one that has more oil in it. This will help seal in moisture and prevent your skin from getting too dry during the winter months ahead.

Furthermore, you should also be sure to use a heavier moisturizer on your hands and feet as they tend to get drier than other areas of your body.

Lighter moisturizer: gel, lotion, or cream oil-free or with a few drops of jojoba oil. Heavier moisturizer: oil, cream, or lotion.

3. Use A Hydrating And Moisturizing Cleanser During The Fall

Fall is the season of change, and with the changing of seasons comes changes to our skin. Skin becomes dry and dehydrated, which is why it’s important to use a hydrating and moisturizing cleanser during this time.

Whether you have sensitive skin or not, it’s always a good idea to use an oil-free cleanser that will hydrate your skin without clogging pores.

A lot of people find that their skin becomes more sensitive in the fall because the weather is different. So, if you have sensitive skin, then this is something to keep in mind when trying out new products.

4. Don’t Skip Sunscreen.

Just because the sun isn’t as strong during the fall and winter doesn’t mean you can skip the sunscreen. In fact, you may need it even more because the sun’s rays can reflect off of the snow and into your face.

Look for a sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30 and remember to reapply it every few hours, especially if you’re out in the sun for extended periods.

Some people tend to dismiss applying sunscreen during Fall, but it is not a wise idea. Fall can be a great time to get outside, but it’s important to remember that while the sun is not always out, it is still strong and therefore needs protection.

5. Moisturize Your Lips During Fall

Your lips can take a beating during the colder months, so it’s important to protect them with a good lip balm. Look for one that contains beeswax or petroleum jelly, as these will help to create a barrier against the elements.

Moisturizing your lips during fall is a great way to protect them from the cold weather. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on lip balms, you can get some affordable drugstore products.

If you love natural products, you can use natural ingredients that are inexpensive and easily available. Here are some of them:

– Avocado oil: it’s not just for cooking, it also moisturizes your lips and protects from sun damage.

– Coconut oil: it has antibacterial properties and helps with chapped lips.

– Shea butter: it’s an excellent moisturizer that also helps with dry skin and eczema.

– Olive oil: this one is great for people who suffer from dryness or chapped skin around their mouth area.

Personally, I use good old Vaseline, especially at night. Vaseline has been used over the years and has proven itself to be a staple in many people’s skincare routines. Check this post on 20 ways you can use Vaseline in your beauty routines.

6. Don’t Forget Your Hands And Legs.

Your hands are one of the first places that people will notice if your skin is dry and chapped, so make sure to take care of them.

During Fall, your hands can get really dry especially if they are exposed to the weather elements for extended periods. Use a hand cream or lotion every day, and try to keep them covered when you’re outside in the cold.

7. Drink Plenty Of Water.

It’s important to stay hydrated from the inside out, so make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. If you’re not a fan of plain water, try adding some fruit or herbs to give it flavor.

8. Remember To Use Eye Cream During The Fall

Eye creams are a must-have during the fall season. The cold weather and dry air can lead to dry and itchy eyes. So, it is important to take care of them by using eye cream.

Eye creams are formulated with ingredients that nourish the skin around the eye area, such as collagen and vitamin E, which help to reduce wrinkles and dark circles.

Eye creams also have ingredients that work to keep moisture in the skin, such as hyaluronic acid or glycerin.

9. Eat Healthily.

Eating healthy is not a tip that is relevant to the Fall season only, rather it’s something to keep in mind throughout the year. What you put into your body will show up on your skin, so make sure you’re eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Also, try to limit your intake of sugary and processed foods, as these can cause breakouts.

10. Get Enough Sleep.

Sleep is important for so many reasons, and one of them is that it gives your skin a chance to repair itself. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night so that your skin can look its best.

Although this tip may sound far-fetched to some people, it has been proven over time. You might also have noticed how your under-eyes look after an extended period of minimal sleep.

11. Limit Your Alcohol Intake.

Drinking alcohol can dehydrate your skin and make it look dull and lifeless. If you do drink, try to limit your alcohol intake whenever you can.

Alcohol can also dehydrate your body and your skin. Remember to stay hydrated and also increase your water intake whenever you consume large amounts of alcohol. This is not only for Fall skincare tips but will also help you throughout the year.

12. Switch Your Toner

Switching from your regular toner to a gentler toner is necessary during Fall for some people. The switch is necessary because the skin becomes more sensitive than it was during the previous seasons.

However, if your regular toner is working fine for you, there is no need to change things up.
